Esteban Music

Esteban are a great band who are extensively touring and needed to promote themselves in in as many ways as possible.

The brief for the website was -

“The website doesn’t need to be a visual work of art. The site has to inform. It has to invite the visitor to participate (by sharing, joining, commenting etc.) It has to be super easy to update, you have to be able to share info with friends and social networks.”

When we met with the band the most prominent request was that the site be engaging and that the site had capabilities of capturing data from those visitors who did engage.

So. A simple modular design was decided upon and the front page would be the main hub of activity with links and info for everywhere the band was both on and off the web.

The front page features all the biggest social networking sites and the bands profiles in them. A nice feature was the implementation of the bands gig listings. Rather than have yet another website to update we decided to pull the gigs straight from their myspace page. This way they only have to update one website (myspace) and estebanmusic.co.uk automatically updated! Cool huh?

The band currently uses a great service called Band Camp to sell their music online. Whilst we could have had an online shop in their website (and we did toy with the idea) it was decided that for simplicities sake we simply integrate their Band Camp widgets in to the site. Enter the joy of working with WordPress! All the band have to do is update the page from their WordPress dashboard with any new songs and hey presto it updates!

Another cool feature for this site was the development of a Facebook widget. The band wanted to be able to have their Facebook fans sign up to their mailing list straight from their Facebook page. So that’s what we did!

Part of this project was the integration of a bespoke JD plugin called “Jealous Data”. This plugin captures all the information submitted from any of the forms on the site (including the one on Facebook) and saves it all to a database. The band then have option of downloading the data as a csv file.
